Album recording begun!
I am on a trip to the island of Bornholm at the moment, and i brought my mobile studio with me. The view from my room is stunning and i am having a great time over here. In fact i managed to begin the recording of the upcoming Muldjord album. So far i have recorded the guitar tracks for 2 songs (9 to go), 4 tracks for each song. It is quite hard work, but it will all pay off in the end when the album is released free of charge, right here at muldjord.com.

To stay updated with my progress, you should check out my Twitter profile. I post frequent updates on there concerning the Muldjord album recordings.

All compositions ready!
I hit a milestone today! All the compositions for the upcoming Muldjord album are now in place. The record will contain 11 songs and have an estimated running time of about 45 minutes.

Recording will probably commence sometime this autumn but i am not sure about this yet, as i am also working on an album together with my other band Sepulchrum. I want the Muldjord album to be perfect, so if that means that i will have to wait a couple more months before recording, then so be it.

The new material is without doubt the most interesting stuff i have made so far. There are so damn many sides to these compositions that i almost can't wait to get it out to you guys out there. It's a mix of thrash, death and black metal but also with a hint of doom in a couple of places. Really cool stuff!

The final album will, of course, be released on the internet free of charge! I do this because I fucking loooove metal, so i don't want your money. I would however appreciate it if you spread the word about Muldjord to your friends and whoever might be interested in the project. Remember to check out my older releases in the downloads section.

HELL YEAH!!! I am so psyched right now!

Added new videos
I've added a couple of videos in the gallery section which walks through some of the stuff i do while composing new songs for Muldjord. If you have any questions or suggestions for other videos of this kind feel free to email me and i will take a look at it. Keep in mind though that i am very busy at the moment so i might not answer all emails.

If you want to watch the videos in high quality, check out the following Youtube links:

Mariehanen Heavyglad
A couple of weeks ago Anders Bøtter, the host of a Danish radio show called Sort Søndag, gave us, the listeners, an assignment: Write a tribute song to Carsten Holm called Mariehanen Heavyglad. Carsten Holm has helped expose the Danish metal scene in the mainstream media for more than a decade, and Anders thought it was about time someone wrote him a tribute song. So i thought to myself "Hell yeah, he deserves that!".

5 minutes later i started writing the lyrics for this song and i decided to integrate all sorts of "fun facts" from the metal scene - specifically the Danish metal scene. The song is in Danish so most of you out there won't have a clue what it is about.
This song is for Carsten Holm and all the Danish metalheads who live and breathe metal! Therefore I will continue this news post in Danish. For the international readers, feel free to download the song in the downloads section. Just keep in mind that this is one big pile of "You should've been there".

Hent teksten her
Hent sangen som mp3 her
(højreklik, gem link som...)

Sidst, men ikke mindst, tak til Anders Bøtter og Carsten Holm for Sort Søndag. Det er fedt endelig at have metal tilbage i dansk radio. God fornøjelse og hævede horn herfra!

Accumulated update
For those of you who haven't been following my progress on Twitter, i offer you an accumulated update on everything that's going on in the Muldjord camp. First of all, i have come a long way in writing songs for the planned Muldjord album. At this point i have about 6 songs finished and 6-7 in the making. Some might get scrapped over time, but as you can see, it is progressing very nicely. The new songs contain a mix of black, death and thrash. I am really excited about the new material and i will hopefully have all songs ready for recording sometime later this year.

Also, i have started a small black metal project together with the drummer of DIE. The name of the project is Black Fence, and we will be making a 5-track EP probably for release sometime later this year. The style will strongly inspired by the Swedish black metal project The Abyss and specifically the Summon The Beast album. I love the intense style on that album and decided to give it a try myself. All hail Peter!

And now for some materialistic news. I just bought myself a Schecter C-1 EX Blackjack guitar, my new pride and joy. Been playing it for a couple of days now and it is fucking awesome! My old Schecter Scorpion will definitely be picking up some dust from now on. This is a guitar i have been wanting for more than a year now, and now it is finally mine, MINE, MIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!! MUAHahaha... hrm... sorry about that.
Also, as i play the drums a lot too these days i began shopping around for a new drumkit. As you might know, i play drums in the black / death / doom band Sepulchrum and so i wanted to get the ideal drumkit. And after saving up money for a long time I have finally ordered the drumkit of my dreams. The setup will be as follows:
- 2 x 22" bassdrums
- 10", 12", 13" rack toms
- 14", 16" floor toms
- 3-sided rack for mounting cymbals and rack toms
- Ride, china, 2 x crash, hihat
- Snaredrum

As you can see there's a lot going on right now. I am also writing some new songs for the upcoming Sepulchrum album, so there's plenty of stuff to do. Keep your eyes peeled for more news.

Follow Muldjord on Twitter
Here it is, the first news post of 2010. I hope you all had a nice new years eve and broke the 12 o-clock barrier with a smile on yer faces.
I decided to create a Twitter account for Muldjord, which i will use for smaller updates that aren't really big enough to fill out an entire news post here at muldjord.com. In other words, if you want to have the full inside story on what's going on in the Muldjord camp, be sure to check it out. I will post very frequent updates on there.

2009 recap and future plans
It has been an eventful year for Muldjord with both the release of the Hate Breeds Hate EP and the Jingle Bells Xtreme christmas single. Both as a musician and as a studio technician i have learned so much i almost can't contain it.
I've spend countless hours recording, mixing, reamping and tweaking the releases trying to make them sound decent enough for release. There are so many things to consider when working with music production that it almost seems impossible to get the exact result you are looking for. That's why it's sometimes a good idea to take a deep breath, step back and look at what you got.
After fiddling with the small details for hours on end, you tend to loose focus and after a while frustration grows as a result since the damn sound just refuses to play nice. I guess that's been the most important lesson i've learned this year; not to get caught up in the details too much.
I've also learned that reamping isn't necessarily the holy grail of guitar recording. It is convenient indeed, but it also poses a problem when you sit back at home and record a clean guitar signal only to find out that it sounds really bad when you get to the reamping part. I do record a distorted signal in parallel with the clean signal, but it just isn't the same as recording the whole thing in the studio being able to hear the final result as you go. I like reamping, but i'm a rookie at getting the guitar sound the way i want it so i have a lot to learn in that area. I'm determined to remedy that in the year to come.

And while i'm on the subject of the coming year, i can tell you that i have already begun working on compositions for the next Muldjord release. What it will be is not decided yet, but i have a strong urge to make a full-length album this time around. So when will it be? I have absolutely no idea. 2010? Probably not. 2011? Maybe. 2012? Seems likely.

Since the next major Muldjord release isn't due anytime soon, i might end up making some smaller releases to fill up the gap. Maybe a cover of some kick-ass song or perhaps more of my comedy releases (such as Jingle Bells Xtreme). They don't take that long to make, and i have quite a lot of fun with it and, most importantly, it helps develop my skills in all areas with no strings attached.

That's all i have for now, see you all in 2010!!!
Posted by El Senator - 27/12/2009

Jingle Bells Xtreme is live
Yup, there it is! Jingle Bells Xtreme is alive and ready to get you into that comfy christmas mood. Or at least make you laugh over the ridiculous Slayer solo(tm) or the wacky gnome voices i have put in there. At the moment the song is available through the main page, so get your ass out there and grab yourself a copy. As a new initiative i have also made a youtube version. It's probably not something i am going to do for future releases, but i thought that this one song was one of those songs you'd send yo your friends, and i can't think of an easier way for that to happen than through a youtube link. So hump the internet and waste some bandwidth and send the link to your friends.

From Muldjord to everyone out there (yes, you too), Merry fucking christmas!!!

Hate Breeds Hate v1.5 released
The Hate Breeds Hate EP has now been re-released. Therefore, if you already downloaded it, i strongly urge you to download it again.
The following changes have been made to the new version:
- Guitars redone, still not perfect, but definitely better than in v1.0
- Vocals rearranged and certain parts re-recorded
- Removed lame intro to Turn of the Tides making the EP a 5-track release instead of 6 (what the hell was i thinking? That intro SUCKED!)
- Drums remixed and tweaked
- Hate Breeds Hate track moved to position 2 in tracklist

I hope you enjoy this improved release. Stay tuned for the release of Jingle Bells Xtreme. It's actually ready for release, but as someone pointed out, it's just a liiiittle too early. I'm planning on releasing it on December 1st.
Posted by El Senator - 13/11/2009

Jingle Bells almost ready
As mentioned earlier i'm working on a cover of the classic christmas carol Jingle Bells. So far, it's not only sounding really good, but it's also funny as hell. I really enjoy this small project and i can't wait to share this very special version with you in a couple of weeks. Keep checking back here for the latest info.

Reamping the guitars for Jingle Bells also had a side effect which i didn't really plan until i was in the studio. I had some left-over time so i decided to... *drumroll* Reamp the guitars for the Hate Breeds Hate EP AGAIN!
Some of you might think "but didn't he just release that?". And yes, i did... But i am not at all satisfied with the guitar sound i have on it. It's vague and thin and i did a lot to remedy that while mixing it, but it just wouldn't sound right because the raw material wasn't top notch (deja-vu!). So i thought about it when i was reamping JB and i concluded that the Hate Breeds Hate needed some extra luvin'.
So i reamped all of it again (is this the 4th time or something?) and i had several reasons for doing so:

1. I was done reamping the Jingle Bells cover and had time to spare.
2. I very recently bought an Ibanez Tubescreamer which is PERFECT for controlling the low-end while reamping. I wanted to test this on a larger scale (worked perfectly for Jingle Bells).
3. Re-releasing the EP lies very well with the spirit of Muldjord.
4. I can't rest at night because i wasn't satisfied with the sound i had on the original release.

The question is, why should music be static? Why can't music be updated just like everything else? Who says it can't? In fact, i'm gonna do it just because i can. If you care to join me on this journey, check back in a few weeks to grab the re-release. I will point it out both on the muldjord.com entry page, but also here, in the news section.

Brewing a christmas carol
For the past couple of years i've been thinking about making a cover of Jingle Bells, but the thought always popped into my mind in mid-december which, obviously, is a bit late. This year however, i decided to do something about it in good time and at the moment i am working on an extreme version of the song. Also, i've gone into humor mode, so i promise you this won't be no ordinary cover. I have a few surprises planned for it and so far it's friggin' hillarious!

So, why make a christmas song? Actually, i just thought it would be nice to poke some fun at it. Many bands stand in line every year to make these sweet womit-inducing christmas songs so i thought i'd take it to the extremes.
I myself don't appreciate christmas all that much, but with a song like this, maybe it will ease the pain when the sugar-coated commercials start appearing everywhere! Actually, it has already begun...

But look out world!!! The Muldjord Chistmas Massacre is soon upon us, and it's gonna be fuuuuuun.

Hate Breeds Hate EP released!!!
Finally!!! It is here! After more than one and a half years in the making, the Hate Breeds Hate EP is done and ready for all metalheads to enjoy. The EP is released digitally and free of charge, so there's absolutely no excuse not to go ahead and download it right away. And then, if you like it, share it with your friends or give them the link to this website so they can download their own copy.
I have prepared both mp3, flac and ogg versions of the EP, to satisfy all your music format cravings.

I would like to show my great appreciation to Tony Sandoval, who made the awesome cover illustration for this EP. You fucking rock! I strongly urge you to go and check out some of his other work.
Also, i'd like to thank Lasse Guldhammer of Sepulchrum for lending me his vocal chords on some parts of the rerecorded version of Armygeddon. This is without question the definitive version of the Armygeddon song, and i am very happy to have Lasse providing his growling skills on there. Horns up!

Lastly, i would like to place a big thank you to all of you out there for your continued support. Muldjord will continue to release free music and you play a big part in that. I do it for fun, not for money. So please spread the word.

Cover illustration info!
I am proud to announce that the cover illustration for the Hate Breeds Hate EP will be done by no other than Tony Sandoval. Tony also did the cover illustration for the early DIE demo Relentless Pain and he has released several great comic books over the years. You can check out some of his work at his Deviantart page here.

The cover will be revealed together with the EP soon... very soon.

Final tracklisting, EP title and length
The new EP bears the name "Hate Breeds Hate" which is also the title of one of the songs. The entire EP has a running time of about 18 minutes and the tracklisting will be as follows:

1. Turn of the Tides (3:48)
2. Hate Breeds Hate (4:21)
3. Seduced By Darkness (2:57)
4. Blood Red Snow (3:44)
5. Armygeddon2009 (3:40)

At the moment i am struggling with the cover artwork. I can't seem to come up with a good idea, but hopefully it will be ready for release within a week or two. Did i just say that!? I can't believe how long i've been working on this EP... Beers will be drunk on the day of release, that's for sure.
Keep checking back here for the latest information and, soon, download links for the entire EP free of charge, as always!

Mutilated Mime tab released!
I've had quite a few requests for some Muldjord tabs, so i decided to go ahead and make one for the Mutilated Mime song. It contains both Ascii and Guitar Pro versions of the tab. Grab it fresh out of the oven right here.
If you happen to use the tab i would gladly like to hear your or your bands' performance of the song. Youtube is your friend, just mail a link to me and i will check it out.

Enjoy!

Mixing and mastering done!!!!
Finally!!! I have just exported the final wav files which represent the final master of the upcoming EP. In other words, the damn thing is done! What i need to do now is make a nice intro and make sure the tracks are the desired length.
Also, let me present to you; the track names of the EP. I'm still not 100% sure about the order, so that will come in a later post.

Turn of the Tides
Seduced By Darkness
Blood Red Snow
Hate Breeds Hate
Armygeddon2009

As promised, i've included a fully rerecorded version of my 2006 single release Armygeddon. This is not just a remaster of the original, it's a completely new recording and it sounds killer!
Posted by El Senator - 03/09/2009

Bass rerecorded
I decided to rerecord all the bass for the upcoming EP. I wasn't satisfied with the tone i had with the old recording, so i scrapped it and recorded everything from scratch. The quality of the final product is no better than the raw material you feed into your DAW, so i wanted to make sure i had the best starting point for all instruments. That is now the case, so it was time well spend. You can equalize all you want, but at the end of the day, you are better off making it sound right in the first place.

Intro vocals and guest vocals
I recieved the Metal Foundry drum module on monday, and yesterday i recorded the vocals for the EP intro. It will be interesting to see how it pans out when i get all the sound effects mixed with the vocals. It should be pretty good.
I also recorded a small bit of guest vocals for the re-recorded version of Armygeddon. I brought in Lasse Guldhammer from my other band Sepulchrum to do this small piece just for fun. His voice is a lot deeper than mine which suits the slow part of Armygeddon quite well. We'll see how that turns out aswell.

Obviously i am also comitted to mixing duties of the new EP. I have a workflow which allows me about two mixing sessions per day. I then export the entire thing and listen to it on my way to work the next day. That way i can quite easily hear what needs to be fixed in the next iteration and so on. It works quite well, and so far it sounds really good! But i'm not there yet, and it will definitely take some time before i am ready to put a "final mix" sticker on it. I will keep you posted here as always, so keep checking back for the latest info.
Posted by El Senator - 07/08/2009

Mixing progressing really well
Just a quick update. I am making great progress with the mixing of the upcoming EP. At this point i am quite satisfied with the guitars and vocals, and the bass is coming along just nicely too. I will be releasing the tracklist and probably title very soon.

Also, i decided to buy the new Metal Foundry drumkit to make sure i get the best possible drum sound aswell. It will arrive sometime this week - i hope. I know, i know... Computer drums suck, but at least i place every single beat myself - no cheating in that regard. If you want to hear my real-life drumming skills, check out my other band Sepulchrum, where i play the drums, ON A REAL DRUMKIT (wow!). You can download our entire demo for free in the disco section. And you even get to choose between ogg, flac or mp3! That's how all music should be released if you ask me.

Vocals and reamping done!
Good news everyone! All vocals have been recorded for the new EP. I even managed to reamp all the guitars too! I set out this morning at around 9 where i took the bus down to the rehearsal chambers. I then spent around 5 hours recording all vocals for the 5-track EP. After that i changed the setup and reamped all guitars for the EP as well - this time with my new closed capped headphones which gave me a lot better control to achieve the best sound possible.
I am extremely relieved that these two essential steps are now completed. So, let's take a look at the checklist:

Compose songs - DONE!
Lay out drum tracks - DONE!
Record clean guitar signal for reamping - DONE!
Record bass - DONE!
Write lyrics - DONE!
Record vocals - DONE!
Reamp guitar - DONE!
Mixing - NOT DONE!
Mastering - NOT DONE!
Create cover artwork - NOT DONE!

As you can see i am closing in on the finish line. Mixing will take a while though, but i will of course keep you updated, so keep checking back for the latest news.

Vocals coming up next week
A lot of stuff has been going on behind the curtains these last few weeks. First of all, i decided to buy Cubase Studio 5, and so far i am very happy with my purchase. I also bought some closed capped headphones for use with the upcoming re-re-reamping of the guitar tracks for the new EP. And finally, i decided to invest in a TC Electronic Konnekt 8 firewire interface for use with both reamping and vocal recording. And also for future clean guitar recordings of course.
Another interesting news item is that i am planning to record all vocals for the upcoming EP during next week. I have the week off from work, so i have plenty of time getting all the equipment down to the rehearsal chambers where i can go totally nuts with the lyrics. I can't wait! I might also reamp the guitar this next week - we'll see...
Posted by El Senator - 14/07/2009

Not quite as planned
As it is with stuff like this i had quite a lot of problems getting the sound the way i wanted this last friday, so i basically had to send it all directly to the trashcan. The main problem is that i am reamping in the same room i have the guitar amp placed in, so... long story short; i'm gonna buy some closed capped headphones and try again. Bad news, i know, but i'm not gonna rush this release through.
Posted by El Senator - 14/06/2009

Reamping planned for today
Yesterday evening i prepped all my gear for reamping all of the guitars today! I will probably be spending more than six hours reamping this stuff, since i want to do a lot of experimenting with mic placements, eq'ing and so on.
I will NOT be reamping everything at home this time. I want to make sure i can get the volume i need so i've decided to take a cab down to the rehearsal room as i did with the Mutilated Mime EP and reamp everything down there. Should be good.

I'll check back in later to let you know how it played out.
Posted by El Senator - 05/06/2009

All lyrics done
I continue on my Muldjord craze by finishing all of the lyrics for the upcoming EP in just 4 hours. I always find it to be extremely difficult to write lyrics, but for some reason i just couldn't stop pouring stuff out of my sleeves when i first got started.

So, the EP checklist is now as follows:
Compose songs - DONE!
Lay out drum tracks - DONE!
Record clean guitar signal for reamping - DONE!
Record bass - DONE!
Write lyrics - DONE!
Record vocals - NOT DONE!
Reamp guitar - NOT DONE!
Mixing - NOT DONE!
Mastering - NOT DONE!
Create cover artwork - NOT DONE!

As you can see there's still a long way to go until the EP is ready for publishing, but keep checking back here. As always, the final release will be free and will be downloadable directly from the downloads section.

Bass has been recorded!
These past 3 days have, without doubt, been the most productive in Muldjord history. Today i managed to record all the bass for the upcoming EP, and now it's on to the lyrics which is always the hardest part, at least for me.
Posted by El Senator - 22/05/2009

All guitars recorded!
During the past 2 days i managed to record ALL guitars for the upcoming EP. 5 songs, 4 or 6 tracks per song (depending on whether the song has solo passages or not), damn i'm busted now...
The EP contains 5 songs since i decided to re-record Armygeddon for this release. So, 4 new tracks + Armygeddon 2009 edition.
Posted by El Senator - 21/05/2009

3-track becomes a 4-track
Whew, i have just put the finishing touches on a brand new song which i find to be so strong composition-wise that i am including it on the EP. So, for the time being, the EP will now contain 4 tracks instead of the promised 3, but i bet you won't complain about that.

So much is going on in the Muldjord camp right now that i am having a hard time keeping up with myself. I just ordered a brand-spanking new Radial Reamping Kit, which contain both a top-notch DI-box and a state-of-the art class-a reamp box. This is all nice and dandy, but it also means that i have to start over with ALL of the guitar recordings for the new EP. Just a minor set-back there, but what the hell, maybe i'll even end up composing one more song in the meantime. You never know...

I'm thinking about releasing some samples from the prerecordings of the EP, but as they are of quite poor quality i'm a little hesitant to do so. Maybe i will, maybe i won't.
Posted by El Senator - 10/05/2009

Bass tracks laid down
Just a small update. The bass tracks for the upcoming 3-track have been recorded.
Posted by El Senator - 18/03/2009

Sepulchrum demo released
Sepulchrum, the band in which i play the drums, have just released their first 3-track demo entitled A Sepulchral Theme. The demo can be downloaded free of charge from sepulchrum.net and can also be heard via streaming radio at last.fm and MySpace.
The style is blackened death metal, so if that's your thing you should check it out.

Oh, and i just bought a Schechter Damien 5 bass. I will record the bass tracks for the Muldjord 3-track sometime soon.
Posted by El Senator - 16/03/2009

Reamping finally done
After months of delays i finally managed to reamp the guitar for the upcoming 3-track. I have spend most of my time on my other band Sepulchrum in which i play the drums. I have been busy producing our new demo, so keep an eye out for sepulchrum.net in the coming weeks.

But let me get back to the Muldjord reamping. As mentioned earlier i bought a new Engl cabinet, so i was actually able to reamp the 3 tracks here in my own appartment (sorry neighbors). I was a bit worried that i wouldn't be able to get a decent sound under these circumstances (i didn't completely blow away my neighbors), but it sounds pretty darn good, and i am completely satisfied with the result. The new 3-track is gonna kick some major ass!

Anyways, i'm moving forward with the lyrics aspect of it all. After that it's on to recording the vocals and i will also lay down the bass tracks sometime soon. I'm thinking about buying a bass, but i might just borrow one somewhere. As always, keep checking back here for the latest info on Muldjord.
Posted by El Senator - 08/03/2009

New cabinet coming up!
I just ordered a new Engl E112V single unit cabinet for use with my Bugera 333XL amp. It is my intension to use this for reamping the 3-track, so i will postpone it until i recieve the cabinet.

Happy new year + other stuff
Happy new year people! On this first day of 2009 i did some minor updates of the website. I realised the entire site had too much color in it, so i've tuned it down quite a bit to make it look more gritty. I plan to make an entire new site sometime in 2009, but i'm not sure when exactly.

At the moment i'm working on the new 3-track release from Muldjord and i hope to reamp the guitar tracks very soon(in a week or so). Much of my time is going into producing a 3-track demo for a band i play the drums in called Sepulchrum, so i'm busy keeping both projects rolling. So far i've recorded the drums and guitars for the Sepulchrum demo and it has been a great learning experience. I actually managed to record all the drums for the 3 Sepulchrum songs within 4 hours(excluding setting everything up which took several hours in itself) using a 4-input usb sound card and an Eee PC running Linux and Ardour. The sound is pretty good, but the entire process is still quite time consuming, so i will still be using a drum machine for Muldjord(at least for the upcoming 3-track).
I'm pretty sure you'll like the Sepulchrum demo once we release it sometime during the coming months'. I still have to record the vocals and bass together with my bandmates and then there's the entire mixing/mastering process. That always takes longer than expected, but so far it sounds really, really good.
Posted by El Senator - 01/01/2009

Reamping tracks ready!
First of all, sorry for the server downtime(during the weekend)! But let me make it up to you by announcing that i have finished recording the reamping tracks for the upcoming 3-track.
I will go through all of the recordings this weekend and make minor adjustments to make sure that i am satisfied with the quality.

The next step is to reamp all the tracks, write the lyrics, record the bass, record the vocals and then i can finally start mixing the damn thing! It's a lot of work but i enjoy every second of it.
Also, i have surprise coming up for the cover artwork. Keep checking back here for more information.

New equipment
Last week i bought a new amp for use with Muldjord. It is a Bugera 333XL, and despite it's quite low price it has a really great sound for what i want to achieve. I will be using this amp for reamping of the upcoming 3-track release. Recording the reamping tracks will commence shortly.
Posted by El Senator - 24/11/2008

New compositions done!!!
Finally, 5 minutes ago i finished the compositions for my upcoming 3-track release. Basically this means that all the riffs, drums and general song structures are done and ready to be recorded for the real deal. There's a long way to go yet though, so i won't release anything anytime soon, but at least now i'm done with one of the hardest parts.
The next step is to write the lyrics. Anyone who ever wrote any music knows that this is another one of the hard parts. I never take lyrics very seriously, as long as they sound good, but i still have to come up with ideas and make some of the stuff rhyme. I'll get there eventually and i'll keep you posted on the progress.

In other news i have some equipment updates. I recently bought myself an external sound card with 4 inputs for reamping purposes. I also bought an Asus Eee PC 901. I installed Gentoo linux and Ardour on it. I tested the setup last thursday and it works perfectly! Easy reamping, here i come!

Things are getting interesting now - keep checking back here for the latest updates.

A second band, and discovered old stuff
About a year ago me and some friends formed a band in which i play the drums. Until recently we hadn't been able to come up with a name, but after looking through some literature we finally settled on the name Sepulchrum. Sepulchrum will release blackened death metal and our homepage is www.sepulchrum.net. So far it only contains a temporary logo.

And now, for something Muldjord related. As you know i am, of course, working on new material. I've written two songs i'm quite happy with, although i'm still trying to work out the details. Yesterday i went through some of the old riffs i've made back in 2006, and to my suprise there's actually some pretty good stuff in there. Not entire songs, but i will try to incporporate some of it into the upcoming Muldjord release, which will now probably be a 3-song release. Keep checking back here for more information.

New stuff postponed
I should know better than talk about release dates when i know i can't live up to them, heheh. As it turns out the song i mentioned earlier needs more work and at the same time i've begun writing one more song. So, this next release will, so far, be a 2 track release.
At the moment i have no idea when it'll be released, but i've decided to highten the standard a bit, so it might take a while.

As usual, keep checking back here for the latest info.

New material is in the making!
After relaxing for a while after releasing the Mutilated Mime EP, i recently began writing a new song to be released as a single. Today i finished the composition of the song, so now it's on to recording the entire song from scratch, then mix it, master it and finally - release it!
The song is very melodic, has some groovy bad-ass riffs in it and a bit of black metal inspired stuff in it too. It's my usual genre confused writing, so if you like my earlier stuff, you'll probably like this one too.

Keep checking back here for the final release. Expect it in a month or so, depending on how i decide to record it.

Mutilated Mime EP almost ready for release!
First of all, happy new year everyone! I spend the last couple of weeks tweaking the mix and mastering the Mutilated Mime EP, and as of right now i actually have the final version ready. All i need is some cover artwork i can include with the download together with the lyrics and a small document describing the EP.

I've given the current final mix to several different people, and i have recieved alot of great feedback on it so far. Thank you guys, you know who you are.
I did also find a couple of small things i want to change before giving it the full green light for release here on the Muldjord homepage. I will fix these things and create the cover artwork as quickly as possible. And, when those two things are done it will be available right here, free of charge.

Stay tuned!

Mixing almost done!
Here's another quick update from the "studio". I have been mixing the raw material on my new setup for the past 5-6 days and it's starting to sound really good. The new Behringer monitors really prove their worth. It's so much easier to mix this stuff when you can hear everything that's going on.
I hope to have the final mix ready sometime next week. After that i'll start the mastering process, which shouldn't take too long. I've also begun creating a cover for it. It will just be an illustration to go with the download and something i can use for the copies i'm thinking about printing and giving away to friends and family.

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that everything is going according to plan. A release date should be no more than a couple of weeks away.

New studio monitors arriving tomorrow
To make sure i have the absolute best setup for mixing and mastering the Mutilated Mime EP i ordered a set of Behringer 2031A studio monitors. I've asked around and they seem to be the best bang-for-the-buck you can get. Supposedly almost linear through the wave spectre which allows me to make the best of the raw material i've recorded over the past few months'. They should arrive tomorrow.

I began the mixing process yesterday, and already at this point it sounds pretty good, but there's a long way to go yet. I will keep you updated.

All recordings are completed!
Today, as planned, i went to the studio to reamp all the guitar tracks and brush off some of the vocal recordings. Everything went extremely well and i am now finished with all of the recordings needed for the Mutilated Mime EP. The new reamped guitar tracks sound really, really good! Much better than i had expected.
Tomorrow begins the mixing process which could take a while. I still don't have a release date, but now that i have all of the hard work out of the way, things will progress much faster.

I've added a couple pictures i took today to the gallery section. Check them out if you like. I will post frequent updates on the progress from here on out, so keep checking back for the latest information on the EP.

Reamping postponed for one week
I had the reamping of the guitars for the Mutilated Mime EP planned for the 1st and 2nd og december, but due to technical problems i was forced to postpone it for one week.
The good news is that this coming weekend is much more suitable for the task because of several convenient factors. So, yes, it was postponed, but effectively it means that the end result will probably be even better than what i could produce this past weekend.

Stay tuned for more info around the beginning of next week. I hope to have some good news to report by then.

All vocals have been recorded
I am happy to inform you that i have just finished recording all the vocals for the Mutilated Mime EP. The only thing left on the to-do list concerning recordings is reamping the guitars. I will do that within this month too, but i haven't planned any specific date for it yet.

So, there you have it. The release of the EP is closing in quite fast now, so keep checking back to this site for the most recent news.

Sorry for the downtime!
Muldjord.com has been offline for about a week because i have moved to a new apartment. There was some trouble with the new internet connection, but everything should be up and running again.

In other news, the upcoming Muldjord EP entitled "Mutilated Mime" now has 6 tracks completed and ready for reamping. I have decided to set november 30th as a goal for finishing the recording of the vocals and all of the guitar reamping. I might even end up finishing the mixing and mastering of the EP around that date too, but I don't want to rush it.
I have bought new studio monitors, which should arrive sometime next week. That should guarantee an optimal setup for the mixing and mastering process.

The track-list is as follows(in no particular order):
Internal Degeneration
Chaos God
Heavy Metal Hangover
Cult of the Nine
Mutilated Mime
Collective Suicide

New Muldjord EP in the works!
Muldjord is currently working on a 5-track EP entitled "Mutilated Mime". It is set to be released sometime during this autumn. 4 tracks are already in place, and the 5th track will be a re-recorded version of Chaos God originally released earlier this summer.

"I've decided to include Chaos God again, since i will have the opportunity to record all the instruments in a professional studio(except drums). The new version should be a lot better than the old one, i hope."

This time around, all instruments except for the drums will be recorded in a professional studio using the reamping technique.

"Reamping allows me to focus all my creative energy on composing the songs and getting the recordings just right. Basically it means that i can sit back home and record everything using line-in and a DI box. Then, when the time is right, i grant myself a couple of hours in a studio and reamp all the recordings. This finalizes the guitars and bass recordings within a very small time frame."

Of course, all instruments, vocals, mixing and mastering will be performed/done by El Senator as usual.

Chaos God released!
Finally, after almost a year, I've finished my latest song entitled Chaos God. The lyrics are of the usual end-of-the-world theme, so no big surprises there. I've tried to hit some old-school sound with this one, and incorporated quite a bit of groove in it also. Groove is an extremely powerful tool when balanced just right, so i hope i did well with it.

The song is available right now in the downloads section. I hope you enjoy it! \m/

The moment has finally arrived! After countless hours of recording, mixing and mastering, Muldjord has unleashed its first studio recorded song, Armygeddon, onto the world.
